Temporary & Seasonal Work

If you want to come to Australia on a temporary basis, or complete seasonal work in agriculture to gain experience and money, then there are a number of temporary visa options to consider.

If you have highly specialised skills or experience in agriculture such as, Agriculture Consultant, Agriculture Engineer, Agriculture Scientist, Farmer, Crop specialist, animal specialist, then the Subclass 400 – Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa may be right for you.

Just be mindful that this visa is granted for 3-6 months to work in a highly specialised job and is not suitable for ongoing work and cannot be extended.

Another temporary visa option is for what is called the Pacific Labour Mobility Scheme (PALM. Under this program you can apply for a subclass 403 – Pacific Labour Mobility stream for around 9 months up 4 years in some cases. Most people will take this visa for seasonal farm work.

To be eligible for the 403 visa you must have a passport from:

• Fiji

• Kiribati

• Nauru

• Papua New Guinea

• Samoa

• Solomon Islands

• Timor-Leste

• Tonga

• Tuvalu

• Vanuatu The scheme provides you with opportunities to gain skills and in Australia, and income to send back to your community..
